Working on large-scale digital transformations is a lot like piecing together a thousand-piece jigsaw. Only the jigsaw is a picture of the sky. And there aren’t any clouds. Knowing which piece of content goes where requires expert knowledge and an impeccable user-experience focus. That’s what we brought to the table as writers and content strategists for AITSL’s recent ReWeb project.

AITSL came to us with a problem. They needed to migrate thousands of pages to their new website while ensuring the content was accessible, jargon-free and intuitive for users to follow. Working with six of their internal teams, plus AITSL’s web development team, Websilk, we mapped existing content against new information architecture, shaped AITSL’s new tone of voice and provided valuable content strategy advice throughout the development process.

Previously, AITSL’s web content was laid out a lot like their internal departments. Each team was responsible for their own content, which resulted in the website growing into a messy, tangled web. By meeting with each of their six individual departments and listening to their communication needs, we were able to map their content against real user personas to create user-focused content that still met internal stakeholder needs.

Using Gather Content, we mapped out the new IA and started creating short, sharp and scannable content for the new website. We liaised with each internal stakeholder throughout this process so that they not only approved the content, but also learned how to replicate the content themselves for future use.
