Case Study: Web Copy for VicHealth’s ‘Walk to School’ Campaign
Using the internet to get kids moving
Overview
Walk to School month is a fun and easy way for Victorian primary school kids to build healthy habits for life. Throughout the month of October, kids are encouraged to walk, ride or scoot to school. The program is an initiative of VicHealth, which funds councils to promote the campaign in their local area.
VicHealth first came to us looking to revitalise the Walk to School grant guidelines. After the success of that project, they were eager to get our help rewriting the Walk to School 2017 website. The goal was to make it fun, engaging and easily understood by all ages.
Process
VicHealth were running on a tight deadline. After providing us with design layouts from their design partner and the previous web content, we immediately set to work.
It was crucial to ensure that every user group was spoken to correctly, including parents and carers, schools and even councils. While the website may seem small, we actually populated over 60 pages of copydeck!
Results
Using the tone of voice developed for the grant guidelines as a guide, we created fun, readable and user-friendly content for the new Walk to School website. Plus, every user group was spoken to directly, ensuring a seamless user experience.
“Avion delivered a great outcome, on a tight deadline and to exceptional quality. Emma was amazing to work with—she was extremely quick, helpful and adapted the tone of voice to deliver a product we are really proud of. I would happily re-engage with Avion and Emma again.”
