Our team is now back into the swing of things and this time of year is when everyone starts speculating what the hottest digital trends of 2016 will be. One of these is the rise of the digital assistant – more commonly known as ‘Siri’ or ‘Cortana’ (depending on the brand of your smartphone) and Google Now.

From a content and copywriting point of view, the increased use of digital assistants has significant consequences. Search will shift from the manual entry of keywords to voice-based conversational queries. According to international IT research company Gartner, more than $2 billion in online shopping will be performed exclusively by mobile digital assistants by the end of this coming year.

So when writing content, carefully consider how your sentences are strung together. Strategically think about how your key phrases could be interpreted by a digital assistant helping it’s owner.
